Please answer the following questions briefly and direct to the point:

1. Why are you interested in participating in the Journeying with Henri Nouwen Retreats?*

2. How would you describe your familiarity with Henri Nouwen and his writings?*

3. Can you describe briefly your faith tradition/denominational background and identify your particular church/community affiliation at present?*

4. Each yearly Journey Retreat consists of four weekend retreats and the 2011 retreat dates are already fixed. Are you able to commit to attend all four of these retreats as scheduled (barring any kind of extenuating circumstances that can potentially prevent you from attending)?*

5. At this point in time, there is no guarantee for scholarship subsidy for accepted participants. Are you able to fully pay for each of the weekend retreats on time?*

6. Each yearly retreat will be composed of 15-20 participants carefully selected to reflect diversity in terms of gender, age, ethnicity, denominational affiliation, etc. The mix will be decidedly ecumenical. Would you be comfortable entering this type of community for a year and promise to actively participate in all kinds of communal undertakings (e.g., group work, interaction, discussion, prayer, sharing, liturgy, etc.)? What reservations would you have, if any?*

7. The retreats are designed to include mini-seminars/workshops aimed at interactive type, mutual learning. Are you willing to read and study the main textbooks prescribed and other supplemental readings meant to enhance the communal learning process?*

8.In between retreats, we will have an online Community Site set up to encourage continued contact and communication amongst cohort participants, especially the small groups. Are you willing to enter into an ongoing discussion/interaction via blogging with the retreat participants (including reading and discussing certain short articles posted on the site)?*

9.There will also be an opportunity for a one-with-one spiritual direction session in between retreats which will be made available as an option for the participants to take advantage of (on a donation basis). Will you be interested in exploring this option for yourself? This is entirely optional and not mandatory.

10. If approved as a participant, what is the one gift you think you will bring to foster a sense of community with the entire group?*
